Description
The Wayne County Public Defender is a mid-sized office practicing high quality, client-centered, holistic and innovative criminal defense in a rural setting. We currently have an opening for an Assistant Public Defender. This trial attorney will carry a reasonable mixed caseload of clients facing misdemeanor and felony charges and may have the opportunity to be involved in various other representation, including Raise the Age clients in Youth Part, Drug Treatment Court, parole violations, appeals and mitigation work.
Salary ranges from $86,343 to $116,583 DOE, with additional compensation for required shared participation in our Centralized Arraignment Program.

Requirements
Demonstrated dedication to practicing indigent defense in a team setting required.
Residency in Wayne County NOT REQUIRED, but preferred for this position. However, applicants must reside in a surrounding County and must be currently admitted to practice in NYS.
