Description

This position represents indigent clients in criminal matters throughout Oswego County. Working under the supervision of the Public Defender, the attorney manages a substantial caseload and exercises independent judgment in all phases of litigation. Responsibilities include court appearances, legal research, drafting and arguing motions, trial representation, and client communication, including meetings with incarcerated clients and their families. 

Requirements

Graduation from an ABA Accredited Law School.

Admission to practice law in New York State. 

Residency (at time of appointment) in one of the following counties: Oswego, Cayuga, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, or Onondaga.
